Emil Bergkvist second in Rally Sweden after hard fight

It was a great start to this year's Junior World Rally Championship that started in Rally Sweden. The Swedish duo Emil Bergkvist and Dennis Rådström were the two who drove in the top all weekend. And in the end Emil and his co.driver Ola Fløene finished second.

– Congratulations to Dennis, he did it really well, says Emil.

This year's Rally Sweden was the first for Emil in the JWRC, and he immediately showed that he will be competitive this season by ending the first day as leader.

On Saturday, however, Dennis Rådström, who has one year's experience in the class, increased the pace and built up a 14-second lead. A lead Emil cut off all Sunday, but it did not work all the way for Emil who finished second.

– We have done our best. There was no more to give here on the last stage, says Emil.

– I had hoped we would get into the car a bit faster and find the right settings, but it is as it is and we showed good speed all weekend.

Even though Emil did not win the rally, he is pleased with his efforts in Rally Sweden.

– Of course we had hoped for more and we had higher expectations with the rally, but we are still pleased with our efforts. Now we will work on getting allt the pieces together for the rest of the season, concludes Emil.

Emil and Ola are now charging for the next race in the five rally long series to be decided on Corsica in April. A rally that Emil did last year, then in another type of car.
