Emil Bergkvist new JWRC-leader after Finland podium

This weekend the fifth round of the Junior World Rally Championship was held in Finland. Emil Bergkvist and his co-driver Joakim Sjöberg came to the rally as runner up in the championship behind countryman Dennis Rådström.

Emil and Joakim set a high pace early, and were in the lead of the competition after eight stages. But on the stage nine, the team suffered a puncture and they dropped to a second place behind Estonian Ken Torn.

Although Emil and Joakim were fastest on almost all stages during the remaining competition, but they did not manage to regain the time lost with the puncture.

– We finished second with 9.9 seconds after Ken Torn, says Emil.

– We lost victory because of the puncture, but we have had a hard fight all the rally and are very pleased with our efforts. Thank you very much to all who supported us this weekend, concludes Emil.

Emil and Joakim are now taking over the JWRC leadership with one race left in Turkey, with double points. The final competition will take place on 13-16 September.
