Emil Bergkvist humble before Rally Portugal

This weekend the reigning Junior World Rally Champion Emil Bergkvist from Sweden together with his co-driver Patrik Barth will take part in Rally Portugal and WRC2 with their Ford Fiesta R5 along with J Motorsport.

Emil and Patrik, who have not competed since their fourth place in Rally Sweden in mid-February, have worked hard to bring the economy together for continued drive in the WRC.

– I would like to extend my sincere thanks to everyone around me who has helped us now when there were tough times, including everyone else who contributed financially to get us started, says Emil.

In preparation for the competition, Emil and Patrik have run a test at the beginning of the week to come back into the driving.

– We have not competed since Rally Sweden, but have run 5o km test here in Portugal which was very good. So both we and the team are ready for the competition.

The WRC2 class as usually have tough competition, with no less than 23 cars starting in class. With the top 3 in the championship also taking part.

- It is extremely tough competition as usual, but we should try to make a misstake free rally and we'll see where it will take us in the end. Above all, we should have fun in the car, Emil concludes.

The rally starts on Friday morning and is settled over a total of 18 stages with a finish on Sunday.
